Outdoor Cooking With Grills

Now that warmer weather is here we are again faced with the hazards of using barbeque grills and other similar cooking appliances for outdoor cooking.

In order to make your outdoor cooking experience safe and enjoyable, the fire department is requesting that all residents familiarize themselves with the City of Warrensville Heights Codified Ordinance, Article 521.14, which states that:

“…. No person shall install, construct or use for the purpose for which such is designed any hibachi, outdoor barbecue grill or any other similar utensil, at any place in the City other than upon the ground floor level of a premises and then only if such utensil is located fifteen feet or farther away from any dwelling, garage or other structure or part thereof. No person shall fail to extinguish any fire or burning embers with water or other suitable means in any hibachi, outdoor barbecue grill or any other grill, broiler or oven of the domestic variety commonly used for outdoor cooking, or other similar utensil, after the use of such utensil for cooking has terminated…”
