Crime Prevention Tips
If you are going to be away from your home for any length of time please notify the police department.
No person shall play any of the following devices in a motor vehicle at such volume so as to disturb the quiet, comfort or repose of other persons:
- Audio system
- Cassette player
- Compact disc player
- Music player
- Radio
- Any similar device
The equipment or device used in the commission of a violation of this section is hereby declared to be contraband and shall be seized and disposed of in accordance with Ohio R.C. 2943.33.
Ages and Hours. No minor under the ages listed below, between the hours indicated herein, shall loiter, wander, stroll, play or be present in or upon the sidewalk, streets, highway, roads, alleys, parks, playgrounds, or other public place, building, place of amusement or entertainment, vacant lot or other parcel of land not such minor’s place of residence, or other unsupervised place within the City as follows:

Exceptions:
- Any minor who is making any bona fide delivery or is on an errand of importance or who is accompanied by a parent, guardian or other person in loco parentis or some other person eighteen years of age or older who has been given permission by such parent, guardian or person in loco parentis to accompany such minor, shall not be deemed to be in violation of this section.
- Any school, church, lodge or other organization which desires to sponsor or hold any entertainment for children under the age of eighteen years, and which entertainment shall require such children to be out at a later hour than that specified in this section shall make application to the Police Chief for permission for the children to stay out until this later hour. The application shall state the time the entertainment will end, and children who attend this function shall be required to be off the public streets one hour after the function has ended.
- If a minor is legally employed he shall be exempted from the restriction imposed by this section for the period from one-half hour before to one-half hour after work, while going directly between his home and place of employment. This exception shall also apply if the minor is in a public place during curfew hours in the course of his employment. To come under this exception, the minor must be carrying a written statement from the employer attesting to the place and hours of employment.
Parking on city streets is prohibited between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Violators are subject to a citation. In residential districts, only passenger cars, sports utility vehicles and trucks with a gross weight of less than 6,500 pounds may be parked or stored overnight provided such trucks are used solely by the occupant(s) of such premises. In cases of emergencies necessitating variances from above restrictions please contact the police department.
No person, firm or corporation shall use a vehicle to plow or remove snow from private property in the City for a fee or charge of any kind without first securing a permit from the Police Department for such vehicle.
No person, firm or corporation, being the owner, lessee, agent or tenant having charge of lots or lands within the Municipality, shall allow any person, firm or corporation to plow snow thereon, unless such person, firm or corporation is licensed to do so.
Licenses may be obtained at the police department.
No person shall sell or offer for sale, barter or exchange, solicit the purchase of, or gift of, any goods, wares, merchandise or other articles or value, or solicit funds for any purpose or cause, or offer any services for hire or commission from a vehicle or on foot, in any place in, upon, along or through the street, avenues, alleys or other public places within the Municipality, or in, at, or near any private property within the Municipality unless such person is the holder of a license which is in full force and effect and issued pursuant to the provisions of this chapter, which license such person shall at all times have with such person while exercising such calling and exhibit to any prospective purchaser, any person being solicited, police officer or official of this Municipality upon demand.
The following persons are hereby declared exempt from the payment of any license fee for the licenses herein above mentioned: any person selling the products of his or her own raising; a manufacturer selling any article manufactured by him or her; a person selling newspapers; a duly authorized solicitor soliciting funds for any purpose or cause or soliciting the purchase of goods, wares, merchandise or gifts for or on behalf of any recognized educational, civic, religious or charitable organization and all other persons otherwise exempted by law.
